System 800xA Details:

System 800xA Controllers

The System 800xA family of controllers, communication interfaces and I/O modules match the most challenging requirements in industrial automation. Combined with ABB’s rich experience in general and industry-specific process and power automation, 800xA Control and I/O products deliver powerful and versatile solutions that are equally effective for small hybrid systems as for large, integrated, automation and power applications. These products contribute to higher return on assets by improving production control, maximizing process availability, and minimizing maintenance.

ABB also offers the AC 800M High-Integrity Controller - an IEC 61508 and TÜV-certified control environment for combining safety and business critical process control in one controller without sacrificing safety integrity.

 

800xA Hardware: The AC 800M controller is a family of rail-mounted modules, consisting of CPUs, communication modules, power supply modules and various accessories. Several models are available to that vary in terms of processing power, memory size, SIL-rating, and support for redundancy.

800xA Control Builder

The AC 800M Control Software comprises libraries and control applications for programing and commissioning.

System 800xA I/Os

System 800xA I/O products offer a full line of industrial I/O with several options, making it possible to optimize cost and performance. Choices include remote and local mounting, small footprints via rail mounting, and intrinsic safety. All allow for better control, higher output, and lower costs.

 

S800 I/O scales from low cost, standard function type modules to configurations providing high end features like hot-swap, HART, time tagging, redundancy down to the I/O channel. Flexible mounting options ensure optimal installation and operation.

S900 I/O provides means to install I/O directly in the field, especially in hazardous locations including Zone 1/2 for EExi loops. S900 also offers hot-swap, redundancy, HART and diagnostics.

A broad range of field devices from ABB and third party manufacturers are certified for use with System 800xA. We add more on a continuous basis by working with our Device Integration Center to manage and enhance additional libraries. This service is also available to our customers for special requests.

Which fieldbus should I use?
The answer depends on the application and what’s already installed. An optimized solution will probably use more than one. For example, new 'analog' installations benefit greatly from FOUNDATION Fieldbus, while new 'discrete' installations can benefit from PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet and Ethernet/IP. Electrical integration depends on whether the equipment supports protocol IEC 61850, Ethernet /IP, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet, MODBUS, or others.
